I apologize that I did not have a meeting bot active during this meeting, so the full log is posted here: L10N_IRC_Meeting_20100305

The next meeting is scheduled for March 19, 2010 at 1600 UTC on the #meego-meeting IRC channel.

Agenda:
1. Steering group members/scope/accountability
2. Localization teams
3. Where to host project?
4. L10n project plan
5. Next steps

L10N Steering Group
The L10N Steering Group (LSG) sets the guidelines, schedule, and coordination for MeeGo localization, and represents the MeeGo L10N community to the TSG and to other open source L10N communities (maemo, gnome, fedora, etc.). The LSG is responsible for all MeeGo localization decisions and overall localization leadership, and also includes overseeing and coordinating language teams to support MeeGo translation, and finding (or appointing) language leads. The LSG also supervise and work with the Transifex development team in hosting, maintaining, and utilizing Transifex for all MeeGo translations. We agreed that having two reps from Intel, two reps from Nokia, and 5-6 community members is a good start. Intel reps: Margie Foster, Auke Kok. Nokia reps: Quim Gil maybe? Don’t know about another yet. Community reps: OgMaciel, Glezos, and dudanogueira. The LSG will meet every two weeks for now until we get critical mass. These meetings are public and open to all, and the next one is scheduled for Friday, March 19th at 1600 UTC. Minutes of the meetings will be posted on meego.com.

Localization Teams
We have a good start on language teams here: http://wiki.meego.com/Language_specific_working_groups. Margie asked if anyone is interested in being the language team lead, to please indicate that next to your name on this page.

Working with other communities
Brief discussion on the maemo and gnome l10n communities—how do they do things, how will we interact with them, and how we can leverage their experience and expertise. See the To-Do list below.

meego. transifex.net proposal
We all seemed to be in unanimous agreement that Transifex is the translation tool to use. We also agreed that having Dimitris Glezos’ team host the MeeGo l10n project on Transifex.net is the best route. There are issues we need to work out, such as managing certain components from upstream projects (like GNOME) and making sure MeeGo plays nice with them. There are business decisions involving Nokia and Intel that also need to be worked out (see the To-Do list below). Dimitris has posted a great roadmap here: http://wiki.meego.com/L10N/RoadmapProposal. Please check it out.

Next meeting Friday, March 19 at 1600 UTC on #meego-meeting (freenode IRC)
