Purpose

Meego-network-logo-small.png

Our mission is to build diverse, open and active volunteer based MeeGo development ecosystem in Finland. Uniting developers, hackers and users by creating a sense of regional community, opening communication, building bridges between developers and users.

Opportunities are unlimited but to name a few. To have fun with MeeGo in open social network. More ideas, innovations and activity among like-minded people. Attract more MeeGo users in all platforms, create functional and user-friendly applications, get more feedback and bug reports, enable better social interaction between developers and users.

The above is achieved by collaboration in organizing events both locally (meetups and other) and regionally (annual summit), via publicity and online discussions. Evidently we need members with various skills such as event organization (both local and regional), design, web design, advocacy, writing, translating, application testing, coding, marketing, IRC-op, forum admin, innovation, and last but not least lots of hacker attitude.

Communication

Regional Mailing list

Mailing list for all MeeGo Network members in Finland: http://www.freelists.org/list/meego-network-fi. The purpose of mailing list is to spark discussion among its members to enhance cross-network co-operation. The list can be used for various purposes such as:

  • promote local meetings, events, conferences, summits, etc.
  • discuss MeeGo related issues either in Finnish or English
  • share ideas and knowledge
  • ...

The messages are archived here: http://www.freelists.org/archive/meego-network-fi/

Regional IRC channels

Community has two channels on freenode network.

  • #meego-fi. Language: either Finnish or English. Channel offers an opportunity to meet members from different local Networks in Finland to discuss MeeGo related hacking, development and events. NOTE! If you discuss some issue that is relevant for the whole community, use English! We have a lot of non-Finnish speaking members.
    • OPs: cybette, kyb3R(owner)
    • Fibubot is a permanent resident in this channel. Used for logging and creating metrics. Maintained by ninnnu
    • NOTE! We need 1-2 experienced OPs. Contact cybette ( Comm & Tech team lead).
  • #meego-summit-fi. Language: 100% English. This channel is used only during events, such as community driven regional MeeGo Summit FI .
    • OPs: kyb3R(owner), smoinen, cybette.

How can I join the channels?

If you don't have irc client which to use

You can:

  • Get one!
    • Irssi is a good (and free) option.
    • XChat is an IRC chat program for both Linux and Windows
    • HydraIRC is an open-source IRC client
    • Use Google to find other options.
  • Or use freenode.net web based solution

Local Network mailing lists

Here is a list of the mailing lists used by MeeGo Networks in Finland. Add your network's list below.

Additional mailing list service will be build also as part of http://meegonetwork.fi infrastructure.

Social Media

For those interested about how Social media is handled, see Social Media Plan

Events

Finland began to organize Regional MeeGo Summit 2011.

Online Community Meetings

Meetings are held as default at #meego-meeting channel. Note to Meeting Chair: Check that meeting is scheduled at MeeGo-Meeting IRC Schedule. People who have been assigned a task in the meetings should write down the actions taken (what has been done after the meeting to achieve desired outcome). Anyone can attend these meetings or participate in the process!

Next Meeting

  • 2011/01/17 Mon 20:00 UTC+2, Agenda

Past Meetings

  • 2011/01/03 Mon 20:00 UTC+2, Agenda, Decisions
    • Team leads added contact information (email address) under teams
  • 2010/12/20 Mon 20:00 UTC+2, Agenda, Decisions
    • Just to clarify the contradiction in the first issue of Community Model: Semi-Centralized model was chosen.
    • We can't have meego mailing list for our regional issues. Moving info about our current mailing list in freelists can't either be added to the list since it's created automatically. Additional page which list other lists such as ours can though be created(Jarkko)
