Call for Papers - MeeGo Conference 2010 The MeeGo Conference 2010 is the first conference to bring together the global developer community around MeeGo. From application developers to platform designers, from hardware vendors to open source enthusiasts - anyone engaged in MeeGo is invited to contribute and participate at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland from November 15 through November 17th, 2010 We currently expect the conference to start with a small number of keynotes and two days of conference presentations in several (3-5) parallel tracks. The third day is targeted as "un-conference" with lightning talks, BoFs, hack sessions, etc. We want to encourage both commercial developers, OEMs or interested end users as well as the open source community behind MeeGo to get together and share three days of presentations, discussions and showcases for products or ideas. The main topics that we are looking at can be structured in these four areas: Hardware support: - Relevant info around supported hardware platforms - Relevant devices (product announcements are welcome as well) - Hardware related improvements of performance, power, boot time, etc - MeeGo hardware adaptation developments: bootloaders, power management, kernel development, porting process, etc. Platform development: - Status, overview and roadmap of the components of MeeGo - Middleware projects/packages (e.g. X, GStreamer, GeoClue, Tracker, ...) - Packaging tutorials, including OBS use and deployment, deploying custom builds, UI customization and differentiation methods. - QA processes and automation - Platform development tools, news, etc. - OBS tips and tricks, interesting hacks, MeeGo on different platforms/new verticals, etc. App development: - SDK news, intros; SDK advanced features - Qt news, development and tutorial sessions - Specific APIs for verticals (Handset, Netbook, TV, etc.) - Alternative application development frameworks suitable for Meego Devices - (Community) projects providing more features and capabilities - Tips, hints and instructions for writing good apps (UI, performance, etc.) - Community Application Support process and projects MeeGo project, process and progress - Report from TSG, latest news, etc. - Team and workgroups activity reports and future plans (verticals, community, translation, etc.) - L10n and i18n related topics - Marketing and outreach - Documentation, collaboration spaces, process, challenges and open development. But we also welcome submissions on any other MeeGo related topics. Be creative, the program committee will look at each and every one to create a vibrant and interesting conference. This includes community and open source related proposals as well as commercial or proprietary developments around MeeGo. Submissions should include: - Author(s) (including their work affiliation) - Short BIO (100-150 words, written in 3rd person) - Short Abstract (120-150 words, crisply defines the topic) - Abstract (300-500 words, explains the scope of the presentation) - Preferred session duration (default is 30 minutes, but we'll entertain other requests where possible) Please also mention if this will include any form of product presentation. In general we are not soliciting sales pitches, but it is ok for technical presentations to refer to (or announce) MeeGo related products. Closer to the event we will open a separate call for submissions for Lightning talks - brief, 5 minute talks on some new, MeeGo related topics of interest. If you will need travel support, also note this in your submission. We expect to have a registration / abstract submission site around July 15st. Submissions will be due by August 23. Around that time we'll open a second process for lightning talk submissions. We expect to have a large subset of the presentations approved and scheduled by early September and are planning to have the final program ready by October 1st.
