When using MeeGo on the Nokia N900, or other ARM-based handset, it's recommended to use MeeGo Community Edition. Community Edition is an edition of the core MeeGo 1.2. The Community Edition is developed with the ARM and handset compatibility in mind, this way developers already owning a N900 device may start developing with it immediately.

You can choose from several images from our repository, or even build one yourself.

Recommended way is to install MeeGo 1.2 Community Edition as dual boot to N900, with your Maemo 5 fremantle. However you can choose any one from the list with your own risk.

| NFS-Root over usb networking | With NFS-root install you can run MeeGo natively on your N900, without erasing Maemo 5, without flashing or using SD card. Rootfs speed over USB is the downside. |
| Install U-boot from scratch | If you cannot install uboot from Maemo repo, then use this one to get it installed. |
