I see the elected members of the MeeGo community serving as part of the community working group, for a term of one year. Everyone who has had an active account on meego.org for a minimum period to be defined will have a vote in elections '''(to be discussed)'''. I suggest that three members of the community working group be elected by direct representation, and four others be nominated by the Technical Steering Group, for a total of 7 members. The role of MeeGo working groups are explained at http://meego.com/about/governance
This is a request to the Technical Steering Group to approve the creation of an elected Community Council, which will participate in the Community work group.
Members of the MeeGo community, elected by their peers, will participate in the Community working group with the members of the workgroup named by the Technical Steering Group.

Related idea: Perhaps someone from the MeeGo community could be elected to participate in the TSG for a period also?
MeeGo will be a meritocracy. The Technical Steering Group will periodically consider naming new members to itself, and appointing new members to the Community working group, but there are no current plans for direct representation elected from the community.
In the Maemo community, the Maemo Community Council is elected by members of the community who have contributed to the project, to represent community interests to Nokia and to co-ordinate community efforts. The Community working group will not be an elected body. In Maemo, elections serve an important purpose in creating a sense of identity and representativity, and I believe there is a place for a similar body in the MeeGo community to represent constituencies not otherwise represented on the TSG and the Community working group.
