I would like to suggest the marketing program "Have some MAPS 2011!".

MAPS stands for: Meego Application Programming Summer.

This program is run by Nokia and Intel.

Developers and Students are allowed to make an Installer with any application for the Meego Operating system.
Installers and Apps are provided and there are two levels of judgement:

Participants work from Mai to End of July on their apps.
The Participants need to specify a Mentor helping them during the process of coding.

Out of the apps, both, Nokia and Intel are choosing each 3 Apps, they favour.

On 1. of August up to 6 apps are presented to the public, which then is voting on the apps, to find out the two best.

The Voting ends on 1. September and the best two apps will get a price of - each one winner can choose -

a) either a 3 years employment contract in one of any location of intel or nokia worldwide to join professional development
b) or: 20.000 Euro.

the other 4 judged participants can buy nokia equipment in the nokia shop for each 2.000 Euro.
(50 % internally financed by intel)

the claim could be:

"Have some Apps, have some MAPS - have your Meego App!
MeeGo Application Programming Summer 2011
Get engaged at Intel/Nokia or win 20.000 Dollar."

- The Decision about this program is done internally by end of the year.
- The organisation is done from February until March.
- Applications have to be registered with a small one pager proposal until 15 April.
- Coding starts on 1. May.

* Versus Android: progress & contributions to MeeGo end up boosting Linux ecosystem throughout the stack, while Android only uses the Linux kernel; Android is a "black hole" where progress & contributions only end up helping Android. If Android turns up to be a dead end (for a given vendor/device manufacturer), all the resources put to related development have gone to waste (see Sharecropping) --Vivainio 12:30, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
* Versus Ubuntu: Qt has a strategic role in MeeGo, while Ubuntu builds on Gtk+. This makes MeeGo easier to approach for most developers (with experience in C++, Java, C#). Qt is also much better funded than Gtk+, and is moving forward with faster pace. --Vivainio 12:30, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
