Revision as of 18:05, 7 July 2011

Main page needs serious attention for 1.0 release. Suggested breaking layout into Users, Developers, and Community.

I agree that this page needs some work, but I had to revert that last round of changes by Aj123. The changes were too drastic, and some of it needs a bit more thought behind how to provide people with needed information.

Agree in breaking up the main page into several section.

The community section here does not list the mailing lists, blogs, etc that are listed on http://meego.com/community . Instead of duplicating that I was going to add a link to that but I could not find a decent place in the current structure. Dawn??

Also I see the link "Return to MeeGo.com" in the navigation box. However it may be good to have it here on the main page as well as an explicit link so people find it if there first encounter is a wiki url.

Do you have anything for Mac HOST OS? If you want some developer on iPhone make a move to MeeGo you must think about it!

Reverted Last Round of Edits by User:Fikimvirt

There were so many formatting changes that I couldn't easily tell what content was deleted, and the 2 column format made the page too cluttered and less readable. I agree that the main page needs some significant work, but please discuss any major reformatting or overhaul changes here before making them. --Dawnfoster 16:46, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Fikimvirt's proposed changes

As a basis for discussion, I've attached below User:Fikimvirt's proposed front page, as a basis for discussion.

MeeGo is an open source project led by the MeeGo Technical Steering Group (TSG). The governance model is based on meritocracy and the best practices and values of the Open Source culture. The MeeGo project lives under the auspices of the Linux Foundation. Anyone can attend the bi-weekly Technical Steering Group meetings to learn more about the decisions being made in the MeeGo project.

Discussion

Btw. if the plan is that we should edit that proposed front page, then it would probably work better if the page would be in it's own page. Another thing is that if we are planning to discuss it is easier to follow discussions if people would end their comments with signatures (--~~~~~) like in Wikipedia.
