[[User:macron|Ronan Mac Laverty]] - I would put the choosing your environment into major sections (Windows/Linux) and then closer to getting the SDK.

[[User:Elliot|Elliot Smith]] - I tried this, and you get duplication as the nearly the same range of targets, IDEs etc. are available; I think we should probably just add a section about targets to this page, covering the available verticals (netbook, handset) and devices (QEMU, Xephyr, real)

Combinations I (User:Elliot) have verified:

HostTargetFrameworkIDECaveats
Linux handset / Xephyr Qt Qt Creator
Linux netbook / real Qt Qt Creator
Linux handset / Xephyr WRT manual
  • app thumbnail is distorted
  • view modes aren't honoured, so window size is unpredictable
Linux netbook / real WRT manual

Combinations I've tried which have issues:

HostTargetWhat's wrong?
Linux netbook / Xephyr Used to work, but UX is truncated on FC13: see http://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8666
Linux handset / QEMU UX won't start as X respawns continually; Zhiyuan Lv is investigating

Also tried handset images on VirtualBox on Windows, but this didn't work. It may have the same root cause as handset images on QEMU (i.e. general problem with compositor).

Ronan Mac Laverty - I would put the choosing your environment into major sections (Windows/Linux) and then closer to getting the SDK.

Elliot Smith - I tried this, and you get duplication as the nearly the same range of targets, IDEs etc. are available; I think we should probably just add a section about targets to this page, covering the available verticals (netbook, handset) and devices (QEMU, Xephyr, real)
