N950 Fall release testing

Setup: Elisa SIM, with PIN code query.

"Because first impression is everything"

  • First boot is weird and takes long time.
    • 2nd boot is more normal
  • Start splash screen garbled in N950 (after showing the proper version), for a brief while

Power mgmt

  • Power off doesn't work, and forced power off (long power press) can cause device not to boot anymore.
    • 'shutdown' in terminal works.
  • Battery indicator doesn't work (unless charging)
    • N900 seems to show correct?
  • Battery charging seems to work

Voice calls

  • All work
  • After ringtone plays, there is crackling sound coming from speaker

Contacts (People)

  • Call from contact doesn't bring Dialler up

SMS

  • Works
  • No message tone

Camera

  • No viewfinder
    • N900 works.

Browser/WLAN

  • Helium works with WLAN
    • No multi-touch (pinch zoom)
    • Fennec has pinch zoom

Settings

  • VKB sort of works
    • always in landscape
    • pops up when not needed (keyboard open)?
  • BT turns on by itself after boot
  • WLAN is on by default

Apps

  • N9-specific challenge: how to exit apps if there is no exit in an app? ie. how to do Right_arrow+Backspace? How about going to multitasking view if user drags finger from outside of display? See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl7Djukoysc
